More speculation on Hall County Clinic

Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) just announced a run out with Northeast Georgia Medical Center and it's network of doctors. It means that come October 1st, no public employee or member of a managed care plan can use a doctor within the NEGMC network. Come March 1st, no public employee or member of a managed care plan can use the hospital.

For long term illnesses like prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, the potential damage staggers my imagination.

That would be true for heart disease and all the debilitating mind diseases like Parkinsons, Alzheimers, cerebral palsy, and stroke.

Imagine the outrage in Republican lead Hall County if former President Ronald Reagan had been turned away from his choice of medical care by an insurance company!

If my family doctor found signs of colon cancer in my body tomorrow, where would he send me? Wouldn't it be pointless to send me to NEGMC for a cat scan or more detailed testing? Come October 1st, I'd have to find a new doctor, a new specialist, and travel outside the country.

But, but, but ... the Hall County Board of Commissioners are opening an employee only clinic which won't be excluded by Blue Cross Blue Shield!

Hurray!

How convenient the timing. I'm sure no one at BCBS tipped off the county. That would be like bad faith to keep negotiating with the hospital on one hand and helping to build a private, competing healthcare service at the same time.

Hmmm.

So can we expect Hall County to build a private clinic, hire doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and staff in cooperation with an insurance company while giving the finger to the largest employer in the county?
