Early reports indicated the resident shot one of the officers in the leg forcing a volley of gunfire which left the Flowery Branch male dead at the scene. Shades of Boot Hill and Tombstone and the Wild West.
The AJC and others reported today that the dead man was unarmed. Did not and could not have fired at the police officers. And, that the wounded officer was hit by friendly fire.
Let's hope he didn't shoot himself. I'm sure someone will listen to the 911 tapes and measure the time between the first shot and the last.
In the meantime, I remember my Western movies very well. The bad guys wore black hats and shot first. The good guys like Wyatt Earp merely banned guns within the city limits. Someone the GOP won't do.
Let's hope the truth comes out on the whole story. Whatever the truth might be.
