Commissioner Craig Lutz and his Park

Since I can't afford a subscription to the Gainesville Times, I'm stuck getting my real news from free sources of lesser quality. Rumors mostly. Sometimes the free weekly called The Paper of Flowery Branch.

The Paper ran with the story on ground breaking for Cherokee Bluffs park in South Hall. Well, more exactly, the park is located in the 'center of Hall County,' Sterling on the Lake subdivision. My county commissioner, Craig Lutz lives in Sterling on the Lake as do many people of culture and good character.

The park is going to have 3-D archery a very important sport for local children. Without the $2.4 million dollar expenditure on the park, many needy children would be forced to make bows and arrows or worse, buy bows and arrows. Those are just too deadly and violent for children much like Dodgeball. A Saturday afternoon at the local park filled with 3-D archery beats a day sitting in front of the large screen television set and some fake electronic game that only simulates 3-D archery.

The Paper helps Commissioner Lutz polish his resume'. "It's kind of a relief. It's something that I've been pretty much trying to get going for a majority of my time here in office." Craig Lutz is no johnny come lately to the park. Elected in 2010, Lutz took the curious public on a tour of the land back in June of 2013.

The 100 acres of park land purchased in 2005 occupied much of the debates during Lutz's campaign against Republican Bobby Banks.

Lutz promised to spend money buying land for parks near Lake Lanier and Sterling on the Lake. He vowed to find the money for upkeep and maintenance of trails, pavilions, a playground, disc golf course, an amphitheater, and the desperately needed 3-D archery range for children.

So it is a relief knowing Commissioner Lutz will have built almost single handedly the only recreation area in South Hall open to all our children complete with a bronze monument with his name on it.

I hope they spell his name correctly.
